World renowned contemporary cellist Nick Squires releases his second album on Silva Classics. On 15th December, Silva Classics will digitally release Imitation Games Volume 2, the eagerly awaited follow up to Imitation Games. The single, ‘When The Party’s Over’ was released on 1st December.

Known for creating complex, multilayered sonic worlds, with Imitation Games Volume 2, Nick explores new arrangements for film and TV soundtrack themes, concert hall music and pop hits. The criteria for tracklisting the music for this album was to choose music that lends itself to translating the emotional core of the music idea and inspires the velvety rich and complex sound of the cello. Featuring music from Craig Armstrong, Billy Eilish, Alafur Arnalds, Hans Zimmer, Ludwig Goransson, this album is bound to follow up the success of Imitation Games and find its place on many major DSP playlists.

Opening with Craig Armstrong’s bitter-sweet 'Far from the Madding Crowd', the album moves on to lesser known ‘Bear Story II', a contemplative number by Luke Howard. Billy Eilish’s ‘When The Party’s Over’ lends itself to baroque treatment. The pace picks up with the plucky ‘Con La Brisa’, Ludwig Goransson’s theme from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, to be followed by Ludovico Einaudi’s neoclassical ‘Primavera’. Miriam Stockley’s folk infused track, ‘Perfect Day’ from Peter Rabbit and Friends defines the album’s golden ratio and brings it into calmer waters with Henry Jackman’s ‘Safe Now’ from Captain Phillips. Imitation Games Volume 2 finishes with Ludwig Goransson’s majestic, multilayered ‘Can You hear The Music’ from Oppenheimer. This is an album delivered with love, passion and thoughtfulness that gently leads the listener through the artist’s world of gorgeous velvety sound textures and brooding atmospheres.

Well known as a classical cellist, Nick Squires has also extensively worked in the areas of soundtracks and pop. From No.1 chart topping hits to Hollywood movies and live performance, Nick has played to audiences of over 40,000 and recorded internationally. As a cello player and dance music producer, Nick has toured alongside Take That and Kelly Clarkson. As a versatile cellist and string arranger, Nick has worked with a diverse range of artists, from Birdy to Westlife, The Pet Shop Boys to The X Factor USA and many more. Nick has played in film and pop sessions as well as recording for the epic ‘Hans Zimmer Strings’ sample bank for Spitfire Audio. Nick’s Cello has featured on UK number one ‘The Promise’ - Girls Aloud and the global hit ’Sweet About Me’ - Gabriella Cilmi. He also composed meditation and mindfulness albums for Calm.com and Lo-fi yoga beats for Apple Fitness. Nick Squire’ Imitation Games is currently available on Silva Classics.

“Nick delivers themes with passion, longing, and contemplation to envelop the listener in his sonic world of luscious textures and poignant atmospheres… a tranquil album of joy from start.” - Review Graveyard (Imitation Games)
